Welcome to Washington Montessori School, a part of the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS).  Washington Montessori is a small school with a population that ranges between 230-250 students. Our grade levels begin at Pre-K and go to fifth grade. Montessori supports mulitage groupings. Therefore, we have five Pre-K/K multiage classes and four 1st/2nd multiage classes. The third, fourth and fifth grade classes stand alone. We have two third grade classes, one fourth grade class and one fifth grade class. Additionally, we have two special education classes (i.e. one generic and one autistic class.) We have a staff of 23 dedicated teachers who are committed to the education of our students.

As with all JPPSS Schools, we follow the state curriculum. However, we have been given the "gift of Montessori" which allows our children more freedom of movement in the early grades. Children are provided with engaging work materials that allow them to learn abstract concepts more easily. There are no desks in the Pre-K through second grade. Children sit at tables to write. However, during the Montessori work time, children are allowed to sit on the carpet area with their learning materials. Come visit us. You'll be in for a treat!
